TomTom Start 60: Design
The TomTom Start 60 has a very modern design and versatile, thanks to the characteristic system that allows mounting either on the windscreen or the dashboard. Distinguishing feature of the design is definitely the big 6-inch 16:9 wide screen display, the largest of the range, with a resolution of 800x480pixel (WVGA) and, unfortunately, not capacitive and resistive technology, the maxi size of the display allows use in during navigation even more convenient and efficient thanks to the increased size of the menu buttons. The sizes of the browser are average and equal to 165 x 105 x 24 mm and weighs 236 grams.
TomTom Start 60: Features and Functionality
The TomTom Start 60 Europe is the latest TomTom navigator designed for automotive applications and is equipped with the latest navigation technology on the market. In addition to the double mounting system and the maxi 6-inch display, the navigation system is equipped with technology Eco Routes (route selection with lower environmental impact thanks to reduced fuel consumption), and advanced lane guidance, which greatly facilitates the entry in the fittings and beyond.
The device is of the type Plug & Go that is extremely easy to use thanks to a user interface easy and intuitive. All this is made more user-friendly grace the voice playback of street names, which can sometimes be boring and annoying, but in most cases proves to be an extremely useful and efficient.
The navigator has the voice playback of street names who allows a more attentive and less distracted, but despite this Feature annoying at times, it is still an extremely convenient, as well as the functionality of Parking Assit. The latter proves to be a fantastic tool as it greatly facilitates the search for a suitable bowing planning a priori a path ad hoc or find a parking space during the journey: in all cases, the device will take you to the parking lot to get where you want.
The device is also equipped with alert function for function and safety camera warning of a speed limit. In addition to these functions, the browser also has some of the best navigation technologies currently on the market, among which is the proven IQ Routes which, in combination with the display of alternative routes, will allow the user to enjoy the journey throughout peace of mind.
The TomTom Start 60 is sold with a one-year subscription to Live services free of charge throughout Europe (over 30 countries) and uses the newest 3 Map Layers that combine three different navigation technologies in a map. The TomTom Start 60 is unfortunately not equipped with Bluetooth’s connectivity, a feature that would surely have increased the value and quality would justify more than the selling price, in my opinion, is slightly higher.
Conclusion
The TomTom Start 60 is a great navigation system with a maxi 6-inch display that makes it easy and not just navigation and the use of the navigation buttons on the menu. The excellent features that come with though has two major defects, the price (maybe slightly high, especially in the absence of Bluetooth’s connectivity) and the battery life that is still around 2 hours of operation (duration, which remains in line with the batteries of different browsers). Having said that the device remains an excellent choice for those who need a browser with technologically advanced and a great display (resistive, unfortunately).
