How is the MicroSD classified?
In the introduction, we talked about classifications, and now we will examine them in detail.
- Class 2 (C2): 2 MB/s
- Class 4 (C4): 4 MB/s
- Class 6 (C6): 6 MB/s
- Class 10 (C10): 10 MB/s

- A1: IOPS 1500 random reading, and minimum IOPS 500 random write.
- A2: IOPS 5000 random reading, and minimum IOPS 2500 random write.
Both new classifications do not rely on pure sequential write speed, which is guaranteed at 10 MB/s.

In the previous paragraphs, we have seen all the categorizations. It was necessary to explain them to allow you to orient yourself on a market that has become more variegated and complex in recent years.
It is important to understand what use you intend to make of your purchase to choose the appropriate card. Here are some simple common use scenarios, which could guide you in choosing:
If you are looking for a memory card for a video camera or a camera
The right solution depends a lot on the resolution that your camera can reach and it’s standards. In general, it is advisable not to buy memory cards with a guaranteed minimum speed lower than the bitrate of the video you want to shoot.
In a very general way, we can recommend:
- If you want to shoot video in 4K: it would be advisable to use UHS3 or V30 or higher memories.
- If you want to shoot video in FullHD: it would be advisable to use UHS memories 1 or V1o or higher.
- If you want to shoot HD videos: it would be advisable to use Class 10 memories or higher.
Slow-motion causes the bit rate to pry off and could undermine the less performing cards, so if you want to shoot high-resolution video with a large number of frames, we recommend you look at high-speed cards like the V30 or higher.
