Bose Solo 5 TV Soundbar – Review

Description of the main characteristics

Better dialogue

Bose is one of those brands that also know the stones when it comes to audio speakers and things like that. Who does not want to waste time in exhausting research, cut the bull’s head and take a Bose product, a soundbar in our case, and even if, on average, they cost more, you die of avarice?

But what does the Bose Solo TV 5 Soundbar have to offer? A better audio quality than that offered by the TV that, as many will know, satisfies the users in a few lucky cases.

But that’s another story; we’re not talking about TV, at least not directly. So let’s make a premise, the Bose Solo 5 TV soundbar makes you leap quality as long as your TV has a painful, modest, sufficient sound but far from being more than satisfactory. After mounting the soundbar, you will notice the difference in all these cases, and you will likely be quite satisfied.

But if you are one of the lucky TV owners who offer good-quality audio but aspire to excellence, well, in this case, if there are differences, they will be minimal. At that point, we must ask ourselves if it was worth it to face this expense.

Don’t get us wrong, with the dialogues, the soundbar does a great job, they are more defined, clearer, and it is clear that Bose has focused precisely on this aspect, so much to provide the dialogue mode that facilitates listening without having to increase the volume to understand what they are—saying the actors.

Insufficient customization

The soundbar does not offer the user a great opportunity to customize listening, to intervene massively on key parameters; in short, in our opinion, the Bose Solo 5 TV soundbar is not very flexible.

The only intervention allowed the user is on the bass, whose level can be increased or decreased by the remote control, while nothing can be changed regarding mids and highs. There is also no preset either. Thus, the slightest custom configuration is not possible.

This, in our opinion, is a serious lack that cannot find in a soundbar that certainly no one would ever dream of describing as cheap; indeed, at this point, while aware of talking about a brand like Bose, we feel very disappointed by the cost which is higher than what the article gives.

There is another side of the coin that less-experienced users could warmly welcome. The configuration is straightforward; indeed, in practice, there is no configuration to do because it is sufficient to connect a cable that can be analog, coaxial, or optical.

In the end, you won’t have to do anything more than enjoy your favorite movie or show. The lack of functions translates into ease of use. Such a soundbar can also be suitable for those not very familiar with technology; from a certain perspective, it can be seen as an advantage.

Stable Bluetooth

We wouldn’t want to sound too harsh and uncompromising with a soundbar that certainly has no shortage of merits. For example, we liked the response received from Bluetooth: it is very stable, fast in pairing, and we have no news of incompatibility problems. Furthermore, if you stream music, you will notice that the sound will not distort even when you set the volume to a maximum.

Of great convenience is the remote control as it is sufficient to manage all other devices such as, for example, the TV, Blu-ray player, and even the satellite decoder. We add that it is also very resistant, which is fundamental given the number of times a remote control falls to the ground. After all, we generally appreciated the build quality of the soundbar, which is very solid.

Aesthetically, it is well made, elegant, attractive, and compact, ideal for discreet-looking. Great freedom of positioning: it can be placed at the foot of the TV and affixed to a wall or perhaps on a shelf. In this sense, we can speak of great flexibility.

Overall

PROS: It is easy to use, installation is limited to connecting a single cable, and the remote control allows you to manage all the devices; there is a marked improvement in the audio quality of the dialogues.

CONS: It is not customizable; there is no way to intervene on parameters such as medium and high. The only changes allowed concern the bass, and this is quite limiting, in our opinion. We are convinced that it will be a cause of disappointment for the most demanding users and geeks who want to give their personal touch to the audio diffused by the soundbar.
