Nokia Lumia 625: Review
Nokia Lumia 625 is a mid-range smartphone with 4G connectivity, IPS screen 4.7″, 5 megapixel camera and Windows Phone 8 OS.
With Lumia 625, Nokia launches a smartphone very nice mid-range from the aesthetic point of view and with a balanced sheet for its price. Among the specifications, certainly shine the inclusion of a module 4G, yet unusual devices in this range, and one 4.7-inch diagonal screen, the largest currently available on Nokia phones.
Less impressive is the rest of the departments: we have a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor (dual core 1.2 GHz), an Adreno 305 GPU, 512 MB RAM, 8 GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD slot up to 64 GB), a 5-megapixel rear camera and a battery, not removable 2,000 mAh battery. Everything is managed, of course (and more than ever after the purchase of Nokia by Microsoft), from the OS Windows Phone 8.
Like virtually all smatphone Nokia in recent years, even the Lumia 625 is a constructive realization of its strength. Although applications for most plastic material, the Nokia Lumia 625 is very pleasing both from aesthetic point of view is in daily use, resulting very solid, well-balanced in the hand and decidedly colored (thanks to the presence of covers by the color choices very exuberant).
The front glass is a Gorilla Glass nicely beveled on the edges, which gives a great impression of solidity and elegance to your phone. Only a drawback: the back cover is quite difficult to remove, to raise the question of being able to even damage during the operation. We therefore, recommend caution.
Regarding the presence of physical controls, on the right side of the terminal have the usual power key / unlock and the volume rocker, which is additional to the classical (for Nokia) key dedicated to the use of the camera. The latter, with a very apt choice provides two levels of pressure: an intermediate for the focus and complete one to shoot the image, thus offering a real camera from functioning.
For the rest, the bottom of the Nokia Lumia 625 we have the inevitable three soft keys (back, home and search) and the usual micro-USB port for charging the battery and connect to the PC, while on the back of the shell, we find the camera 5 mega pixel camera, which is accompanied by a small LED flash. More below, here is the grill of the speaker (rather small), while, on the top, we find the usual headphone jack.

Nokia Lumia 625: Performance
In practical use, the Nokia Lumia 625 is a smartphone reveals quite agile and enjoyable to use, in spite of a technical certainly not explosive. Windows Phone OS is known to be a rather light, these terminal runs smoothly and without hiccups in virtually every operation. The launch of applications, especially those more substantial, it is not always instantaneous, but overall the experience of using it is certainly good.
Obviously, with regard to gaming and extreme multitasking need to have appropriate expectations: CPU and GPU in this smartphone are certainly not the most powerful around, but the real bottleneck is made up of only 512 MB of RAM, perhaps the only specifies that sounds slightly biased downwards, even for a terminal of this price range. The securities less demanding (and objectively more common in the smartphone) will turn on the Lumia 625 without any effort.
The other real flaw of this phone is the screen: the IPS LCD panel 4.7″ stops it at 800 × 480 pixel resolution, giving a value of about 200 ppi density, which are far fetched on the large diagonal. The problem is not very noticeable in normal use the menus (even given the nature of ” low res ” of the Windows Phone), but it becomes apparent, for example, in times of browsing, where the lyrics are really little more difficult to read.
Also, the quality of colors and contrasts as well as the angle of view, are rather below average. On the bottom of the screen you will notice even a phenomenon of over-lighting, very easy to perceive the background’s blacks.
The multimedia experiences in the round remains discreet: the speaker, despite being a mono and compact size, it is powerful enough (be careful, not to place the phone back on soft surfaces: the sound will be almost completely muffled) The camera is responsive and captures images of reasonable quality, despite the resolution of ” only ” 5 megapixels, and also video recording in HD (up to 1080p) and their vision does not leave much to be desired for a device of this price.
We find pleasant Nokia Smart Cam function, which captures multiple images and then proposes a number of different creative solutions while, in defense of the screen. It is worth mentioning the excellent touch sensitivity, which is capable of detecting the touch even when your fingers are covered by light gloves.
Obviously, the connectivity is very interesting, thanks to the inclusion of a module 4G standard that is finally taking hold in and offers faster download and upload speeds much higher than the old 3G, of course, when and where on the provider (note: the Nokia Lumia 625, as all or most smartphones in this series, uses a microSIM card).
It is therefore, good part of the machine and the rest of the antennas (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) and GPS module in our test worked properly, showing adequate reception and, in the case of GPS, a coupling of the satellites really fast. Excellent, finally, is the autonomy, perhaps thanks to its low power with the Nokia Lumia 625 fails to arrive safely at the end of the day with a fairly intense use and also reaches 48h, if not particularly stressed.
Nokia Lumia 625: Conclusions
The Nokia Lumia 625 is a smartphone interesting, well-built, and that looks nice. The sheet is not exaggerated is not a problem in daily and is well proportioned to the price, although we would have liked a higher amount of RAM. Excellent is the connectivity, thanks to the inclusion of 4G format. For the screen, in which the economic nature of this device stands out more clearly.
Obviously, when assessing whether or not the purchase is also considered the presence of the OS Windows Phone, which generally, either love or hate. Among its advantages are a great agility and simplicity, between his faults a certain amount of rigidity and App still not on par with the competition Apple and Google (at the time of this writing, for example, still do not have an App YouTube working). We find pre-installed Mobile Office suite, which could be a point of interest.
In the final analysis that Windows Phone is already chosen your OS, the Nokia Lumia 625 will allow you to use it with satisfaction and without a hit too hard on the wallet.
